AI Visibility
More people now ask AI assistants for recommendations instead of searching. The AI Visibility tab shows how often those answers name your brand, how often they point to your website, and which websites they lean on.
Share of voice and Tracked questions
The tab opens with your share of voice. Below it, under the heading Tracked questions, are AI mentions and AI citations. Each number is from the latest weekly update and has a trend line underneath.
- AI share of voice
- Of all the brand names in AI answers to your tracked questions, the share that were yours. The bars beside it show every tracked brand's share, so you can see who you're up against. More on the Share of voice and competitors page.
- AI mentions
- How many of the AI answers to your tracked questions name your brand, shown as "X of Y answers".
- AI citations
- How many of those answers link to your website as a source, whether or not they also name you. Being cited matters because it's how people click through from an answer to your site.
Tracked questions are the questions people in your category ask AI assistants, chosen for your business by the Conspicuous team. Most don't mention any brand ("what is the best coffee subscription for beginners?"), so they show whether AI recommends you to people who haven't heard of you yet. A few name you directly ("is Brightpath Coffee worth it?") and are scored separately.
If the set of tracked questions changes, a marker on the trend lines shows when, because the counts can jump at that point for reasons that have nothing to do with your visibility.
The comparison tables
The middle of the tab compares you with your competitors, question by question and AI platform by platform: which brands each answer names, which brands' websites it links to, and how it describes each brand. These tables have their own page: Share of voice and competitors.
Tracked themes and questions
All Tracked Themes & Prompts lists your tracked questions, grouped into themes. The chip on each theme is the share of its answers that name you. Click a theme to see its questions. Under each question you'll see how many answers named you and how many linked to your site.
What to do with itThemes with a low share are your biggest openings. Open them and look for questions where competitors are named and you aren't: those usually point to a page you don't have yet, or one that doesn't answer the question plainly. If a question you care about is missing, suggest it through Contact support or your onboarding questions.
AI Citations
The websites AI answers cited as sources for your tracked questions, with how often and an example page. Each one is labelled:
- Owned: your own website.
- Competitor: a tracked competitor's website.
- Editorial: anyone else, such as review sites, forums, publications and blogs.
What to do with itEditorial sites that AI cites often are worth being on. If a review site or publication keeps coming up, getting your brand mentioned or reviewed there is one of the most direct ways to show up in more answers.
AI answer corpus
The last section, headed AI answer corpus, looks beyond your tracked questions: at a large set of recent AI answers to questions people really asked, on any topic.
- AI answers naming you
- How many of those answers name your brand, with the split by AI platform and a trend line.
- AI answers citing your site
- How many of them link to your website as a source.
- Where AI already names you
- Real questions where the answer named you even though the question didn't name any brand. Each row shows the AI platform, the question, roughly how often people ask it each month (where known), and the page of yours the answer cited. Use the buttons to show one platform, or type in the Filter questions… box to find questions with a word in them.
These numbers rise and fall with how much people ask about your category, not only with your visibility, so read the trend over several weeks rather than week to week.
What to do with itThe questions in "Where AI already names you" show what AI already trusts you for. Make sure the cited pages stay accurate and up to date, and look for related questions you could answer just as well.
